Indian Stock Market Updates - Commodity Tips


Equity benchmarks as well as broader markets maintained morning gains, driven by banking & financials, FMCG and pharma stocks after Q3 GDP data surprised street. Tata Motors fell over a percent ahead of February sales data due later today. Maruti Suzuki was up 0.2 percent after sales in the month gone by grew 11 percent while Eicher Motors fell 0.6 percent as Royal Enfield sales missed analysts' expectations, growing 19 percent year-on-year.

Commodity Market Tips

PRECIOUS METALS: Precious metal prices are expected to trade low after Trump reiterated on his plans to offer tax cuts to the middle class and a higher infrastructure and defense spending. 

ENERGY: Crude oil prices are down on yesterday as concerns about rising U.S. crude inventories ahead of data overshadowed OPEC production cuts.

BASE METALS: Base metals prices are trade range bound for today as demand worries from top consumer China along with rising odds of rate hike by US Fed.

Expert Views On Stocks In Focus Today


The stock market remained directionless in noon trade, with the Nifty50 hovering around 8700 as investors remained on the sideline after pricing in Union Budget. Corporate earnings and RBI policy are next key events.

Asian Market Updates: All the global indices are moving down with heavy losses. Nikkei dropped 233 points at 18914, Hang Seng has lost 155 points at 23162 and Taiwan Index is 18 points down at 9428.

Stocks In News Today

Mahindra & Mahindra: Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) today reported 10% decline in total sales at 39,303 units in January. The company had sold 43,789 units in the corresponding month last year. Hero MotoCorp reported sales of 4,87,088 units for the month of January 2017 against 563,348 units sold in the same month last year.

Apollo Tyres: Apollo Tyres posted 6% enhance in consolidated net profit to Rs 296 crore for the December quarter, riding on strong sales across domestic and overseas markets. The company, had reported net a profit of Rs 279 crore for the same period of last fiscal.
