Stock market slipped down on the first session of the new year. Sensex dropped down 136 points at 26489 while 50 share index Nifty is 38 points down at 8147. Nifty Midcap is 22 points up at 14389. All the commodities of MCX are trading in the positive zone with nickel leading the region 0.79 percent hike while Gold has hiked 70 points at 27515 and Silver was 138 points up at 39187. Crude Oil hiked 23 points at 3673.
About 1377 shares have advanced, 825 shares have declined and 1430 shares are still unchanged.
Gainers: Eicher Motors, UltraTechCement, Ambuja Cements, Tata Steel, BHEL
Losers: Bank of Baroda, HDFC, SBI, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Auto
